Home business online is an important marketplace for a growing number of entrepreneurs that are striking out to test their business savvy and earn a living from home (or wherever.)
Many come to the Internet without previous small business experience.
They have a business idea, or not; but certainly a business dream that they can carve out a living for themselves by applying their knowledge, experience, passion, or interest to a web site and one or more products or services that other people will buy.
I’m guessing you are among this group of modern-day pioneers!
If so, you’ve come to the right place to learn about solo business and how to become a profitable business owner on the Internet.
May I first give you a piece of advice; hopefully it will sink in quickly and you will ponder the implications of this short suggestion.
Always keep foremost in your mind: YOU ARE THE BUSINESS!
You are the business – what does that mean?
This business of solo business and entrepreneurship can be extremely exciting, challenging, intense, satisfying, and especially profitable.
I can tell you from personal experience, and a working career in small business development, that you can create a nice small business, run it from home, and profit directly from your effort . . . if you do it right.
I don’t care who you, where you live, your age, gender, or race. In fact, the personal skills that will serve you best are your ability to “do” things, your persistence, and your attention to details.
A healthy dose of creativity and knowing how to follow directions will help too.
You can be successful if you learn and follow the time-proven principles of sound small business development and position your company so that your prospects and customers are anxious to buy what you have to offer.
But before we begin the journey together, I should introduce myself. I’ll keep it brief and to-the-point.
My name is Steve Browne and I live in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
I am married, have four adult children, fourteen grand children, own a dozen or so web sites, and am currently retired from corporate life!
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from BYU in Provo, Utah.
During my working career, I worked daily in community and economic development and job creation – most of it focused on small business development, growth, and expansion.
Our local economy is almost exclusively driven by small business – and I’ve seen, worked with, and analyzed, first hand, the good, the bad, and yes, the ugly!
Here’s my view of this blog and its purpose – if you haven’t figured that out by now:
The mission: To help you create and manage a profitable solo Internet business.
What’s in this blog: Strategies, instructions, tips, online resources, best business practices, and guidance you can freely use to set up and operate your own successful online business.
Your challenge: If you want to be successful in such a business, you will need to be dedicated and persistent in learning what this business is all about, how it works, and then you must translate your learning into “doing” and executing what you’ve learned. I will help you.
I will be here daily, except Sundays – my day of rest. Why don’t you make it yours as well?
I am hopeful that you will participate in the blog process by visiting daily and posting your comments, questions, ideas, and opinions often.
I don’t have all the answers, but I’m confident that together we can find what we need.
I would ask that you post in an amicable way, keeping your comments brief, friendly, and (especially) focused on the subject of the post or something closely related.
